Anybody Know What This Supplement Is? Vitamin E Or Selenium Maybe?
Somebody gave me a bottle of “Puritan’s Pride E-400 I. U. with Selenium 50 mcg.” The bottle was already open. I took some but then I noticed half the softgels look like regular vitamin E and the other half look bigger and darker- not clear like the E. I opened one of these and the liquid was thicker and slightly gritty. Is this the Selenium? I thought the Selenium was supposed to be mixed in with the Vitamin E in each softgel. ??
Vitamin E shouldn’t be gritty. The Pride E-400 is vitamin E, because vitamin E is measured in I.U. which stands for International Units. I wouldn’t take any of them though, especially when it looks like there is something else in there as well. It sounds like they have mixed something else with the vitamin E capsules. Does the person that gave them to you know?
There are some reviews of this product over at the source listed below. Slightly different IU, but possibly still valuable info
Never take anything that someone gives you especially if it is already opened. Also I would have to see the pills you are talking about to be able to tell you what they are. As a practitioner it would not be responsible of me to assume that it is a certain thing. Take supplements given to you only by a Natural Health Practitioner not by one of your friends. Some supplements if taken incorrectly can kill you or make you seriously ill.

hi
I’ve always taken several 400 IU vitamin E per day, also two 50 mcg tabs of Selenium separately — both are anti-oxidants, and Selenium is supposedly protective against breast cancer (100 mcg per day,I think). I’ve never examined the combination, though. The Puritans Pride Vitamin E that I take has come out with darker colored capsules..
