I’m On The Near Frutarian Diet. What Vitamin Supplements Should I Be Taking?

I want to make sure that I keep getting all the right nutrients because the Frutarian diet is very restricting. I am only on a part Frutarian diet which means I eat dark leafy greens, certain sprouts such as flax and buckweat, and ginger to promote digestion. I am currently taking vitamin B-12 and zinc vitamins. Is this enough?
Please only answer if you actually know what you are talking about. Thanks so much!

hi, i’ve been on a fruitarian diet for 4 years now (previously raw vegan for 7 years & no animal products for 15 years). i have never used any supplements. Being a fruitarian means no greens, roots or seeds.
You need a good balance in your diet, meaning various organic fresh fruit. In the begining you might have to make sure to eat based on the nutrients (oranges have loads of calcium, olives are acid fruit -rare, & needed to keep the balance in the bifidus of your body that holds the B12- banana or mangos or avocados for the proteins, kiwis for the zinc, etc.
Then your body will be able to ask for what it needs.
Try to eat what seems appealing. The colors of the fruits is very important & is what will make your body react.
i would also suggest that you exercize & try to find a good sleep.
The roots of a good health are: food (raw fresh organic fruit) exercize & sleep.
    Have a nice journey!

Sorry if I don’t know what I’m talking about, but if you are on a diet that requires vitamin supplements, then get off it before your health fails! Never thought I’d come anywhere near agreeing with the foxhunter guy, but credit where it’s due…

I suggest reading the book called “Raw Spirit” by Matt Monarch. He is not a fruitarian, but he only eats raw food. His book can probably tell you more about staying healthy with a diet like yours.
PS… Not sure but I think it’s fruitarian – not frutarian.

If your diet is so deficient that you’re having to take supplements, then your diet is crap! Eat a balanced diet. Cutting out vital food groups does not make you healthier than anyone else. It’s exactly the same as people who just eat burgers and chips in their diet.

Negative Calorie Foods

The phrase, "negative calorie food", as highlighted in negative calorie diet programs and books, usually refers to foods that allegedly require more energy to digest than they contain. Since the process of digestion requires the use of calories for energy, sometimes the net amount of metabolizable energy available from a food is less than the gross number of calories contained in the food.
